A native of South Korea, Hanbyul Jang began playing the violin at the age of five. Ms. Jang has attended several summer festivals, including the Bowdoin International Music Festival and the Aspen Music Festival & School as a fellowship recipient. She was also chosen to participate in the inaugural class of the Colburn Teaching Fellows Program. Her early studies were with Dennis Kim. Ms. Jang received her Bachelor of Music degree from the Colburn Conservatory of Music in Los Angeles where she studied with Robert Lipsett.

In December 2015, Ms. Jang received her Masters of Music degree from USC Thornton School of Music. Currently, Ms. Jang is pursuing a Graduate Certificate at Thornton as a full scholarship recipient of the John H. Laub and Lilli J. Laub Endowed Music Scholarship under the tutelage of Glenn Dicterow. Ms. Jang is a concertmaster in the Thornton Symphony Orchestra and is a substitute violinist with the Philadelphia Orchestra.
