The Pascale Music Institute
The Pascale Music Institute, (PMI), located in the Los Angeles suburb of South Pasadena, uses the unique Pascale Method® to teach children as young as 3½ years old to play the violin, viola, cello, bass and piano. Private lessons are offered year-round.
KinderPiano® and KinderViolin® lessons are available for the youngest students. The lessons have a very high success rate, with most students choosing to continue their training.
|PMI maximizes the potential of each child, whether they’re in it just for fun or want to make music a career. Every child deserves a good start. Children gifted and/or challenged move at their own pace, and there is no cap on what they can accomplish.|
Pascale Music Institute Award-Winning Orchestras
Orchestra is at the heart of PMI, driven by Pascale’s passion for creating high-level programs for young students. The Los Angeles Children’s Chamber Orchestra (LACO), the Los Angeles Children’s Chamber Orchestra (LACCO), and numerous chamber groups have been recognized with many awards at regional and national competitions, including Carnegie Hall. The Training Orchestra is designed for graduates of KinderViolin®. More advanced PMI students may audition for LACO and LACCO. A new orchestra will be launched in the fall and will be open to all by audition.
The orchestras are designed to make classical music cool and fun, which helps keep kids engaged in music even through the difficult teenage years. Pascale creates unique and sometimes wacky performance opportunities, drawing from the varied talents of the students. They’ve been known to incorporate dance, marching and flashmobbing while playing their instruments in unique venues like supermarkets and New York City’s Times Square. They have developed quite a fan-following because of the many delightful surprises.
|By the time our students reach 12 years old, they’ve played volumes of orchestra compositions, developed great sight-reading skills, and have performed in numerous venues from charity fundraisers to national television. They’re very comfortable onstage and exude a professional attitude. They create lifelong friendships, and are exposed to all types of music from rocks to jazz to classical. Some of our ensembles even get paid gigs at special events. High school kids continuing with the program end up at the most prestigious arts high schools and colleges, with generous scholarships. Children from our program consistently excel.|
